Winter Cross Country
Our Winter Cross Country season runs from May to August and focuses on the skills required for cross-country running. We provide training and competition opportunities for athletes aged 6+. We provide training twice a week, where all registered athletes train together. Athletes are then split into groups for specific programs based on skill level and age.

Competitions are run by Athletics West and are held at various locations within the Perth metropolitan area.

Athletes are welcome to attend for training only, competition only, or for training and competition.

Winter cross Country training is incorporated into our summer athletics membership. There are membership options for those that only want to train and do winter cross country training with Joondalup Athletics Centre. Please email admin for details.
Training locations:
- We train at various locations to develop an athletes' ability to run across different types of terrain. Training locations are updated on our specific cross country Team app page, so please join this page to remain up to date.

Competitions:
- All competitions are listed on the Athletics West website. Nominations must be done via their event page prior to the closing date. Athletes are required to wear their Joondalup Uniform (polo/singlet and plain black shorts). There are usually 5-6 competitions held throughout the season at various locations around Perth. Race distances vary depending on the age of the athlete.

State Championships:
 - The last competition of the winter series is the State Championship race, where the top 3 competitors receive medals. For the second year running, Joondalup Athletics Centre has been the host club for the State Championships, this time at Perry's Paddock in Woodvale, after a very successful hosting at Yellagonga Park in Joondalup in 2023.

Rosters:
- In 2022 Athletics West introduced a new roster policy requiring families to complete a roster for competition events. Nomination for rosters is to be completed during registration for the event. Joondalup Athletics Centre does not have any control or influence over the rosters. Please direct any queries to Athletics West.
